A publication by “Implications for the EU/EEA on the sudden outburst of monkeypox clade I in DRCs in December 2023. A total of 18,922 cases have been reported out of which 1007 deaths have been reported. In past, we have already seen the fatality caused by Clade I.

In 2024 till March 29,4,488 cases have been reported of which 319 have been confirmed for MPOX. Kamituga a city near Bukavu which is known for gold mining in South Kivu has reported the virus among sex workers. As reported earlier more among Men to Men sex out of 51,24 were sex workers and the city is densely populated with no proper route connecting to Europe there are more chances for transmission among human to human occurring to date. It is important to keep a check among people travelling from Kigali To Europe is more common.

As the city lacks health infrastructure the population is not able to understand the urgency of the situation.

• Although WHO has declared an end to the MPOX emergency, however scientists are warning about the possible outbreak
• A total 15% death rate with severe lesions has been reported in patients with MPOX which is becoming an advanced study like HIV

Dr.Isaac Bogoch also praised a team that showed certain mutations from the samples collected from Kamituga.

As reported in the newspaper “The Telegraph” Health Ministers have a meeting by Africa Centres For Disease Control has warned about the probability of the virus spreading Nationally and Internationally.

Therefore, “It’s a call for swift action against MPOX”.We need a proper vaccine for the disease.
