U.S Department of Education to Host Preconference and National Summit on Postsecondary Success
- The event is all set to take place on April 23 by, the U.S. Department of Education to host the Mental Health of America’s College Students preconference followed by The Summit the Division will have the Accomplishing School Greatness and Value Prompting Highest point.
- These events will highlight the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to ensuring that students from all backgrounds, ages, disability statuses, and income levels can succeed in any postsecondary pathway.
U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will deliver remarks during the opening session of the summit on Wednesday, April 24.

- The Biden-Harris Administration has long been focused on promoting behavioural health support at both the K-12 and postsecondary levels as an integral strategy for supporting students’ overall well-being and success. The Securing the Mental Health of America’s College Students Preconference will highlight federal and state investments to support behavioural health; explore excellent and innovative institutional behavioural health supports, including through technology; uplift best practices to support diverse student populations on campus; share research on effective practices; and uplift how students are experiencing, providing, and shaping behavioural health supports at the individual, institutional, and state levels.
As a part of the Raise the Bar: Attaining College Excellence and Equity initiative, the Department’s Attaining College Excellence and Equity Advising Summit will focus on holistic advising and wraparound services. This summit will bring together leading experts from the federal government, states, institutions, and the wider higher education community to share the knowledge, resources, and tools to drive concrete institutional and state improvements in advising practices and spotlight evidence-based and innovative promising practices. Also, it will help attendees assess what data, technology, policies, and practices are needed to strengthen their capacity for delivering holistic advising and wraparound services; and create opportunities for attendees to network, strengthen connections, and build partnerships to advance student success.
